Managers, Coaches, Team Parents and Other Volunteers:

We wanted to take this opportunity to detail the Background Check and Fingerprinting procedures because some of our volunteers are experiencing some difficulties.

First, let us say THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND SKILL SET!!!  VSLL is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and we could not accomplish half of our goals without YOUR help! 

Our Background Check and Fingerprinting Protocol was put in place by VSLL and Brevard County to ensure the safety of all participants in organized activities. It has clear steps that MUST be followed or the process takes MUCH LONGER than needed.  

ALL volunteers (18 years of age or older) MUST be checked ANNUALLY via JDP, which stands for J.D. Palatine and is a database that accesses over 450 MILLION records including sex offenders and criminal records across all 50 states and Washington D.C. The renewal for VSLL is November 1st of each year. That means many volunteers from our FALL season MUST be reprocessed prior to the Spring Season.  Any volunteer new to VSLL must email Tom Stanley, our Background Check Manager, at [email protected] ASAP. Once your background investigation is clear, VSLL will verify that Brevard County Parks and Recreation has current fingerprints on file. These are updated every 5 years.  ** School Board fingerprinting or fingerprinting from other counties is not applicable. You will need to be fingerprinted for Brevard County. 

To get fingerprinted, VSLL will receive a ONE TIME, INDIVIDUAL code for each person sent from the county. AUE Staffing (our fingerprinting service) NO LONGER ACCEPTS WALK-INS. They WILL NOT process fingerprints without the code. Our Background Check Manager will send the code once he receives it so you can schedule your printing.

Brevard County Parks and Recreation has responded to our request to get you fingerprinted. You will need to make an appointment with AUE Staffing to get the fingerprinting completed, which will be good for 5 years.
